Developing Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Humanities
The product of research in the field of humanities is often "research itself". Thus, liberal arts are often perceived as fundamentally detached from the realms of "practical actions". By introducing the entrepreneurship world into humanities, we seek to enhance the kinds of fruit borne by liberal art research and education. Our primary objectives are to develop a culture that is geared toward delivering practical products from theoretical research, establish an entrepreneurial community, forge ties with the industry, and create grounds for
the development of business-oriented projects.
An entrepreneurial discourse in humanities has dual value: from a research perspective, innovative entrepreneurial thinking enriches intellectual engagement, leading to additional levels of innovation (we wish to encourage our researchers and students to think of entrepreneurship as an integral part of their learning, similar to the importance that universities have attributed, in recent years, to the international dimension in teaching and research); from a practical perspective, the world of product-oriented work increases humanities' impact in both practical and cultural domains, while broadening the range of employment options available to students and scholars, thereby enhancing the industry and world with cultural and intellectual aspects. At the same time, we also hope that it will encourage students majoring in the exact sciences to integrate humanities into their studies, broadening their horizons as well as Israeli citizens' general education as a whole.
